Radical critical theory, the ideology with roots in Marcuse and Foucault (rather than liberalism's Locke and Mill), the ideology that is obsessed with power and oppression over everything else, has been quietly (and lately not so quietly) supplanting liberalism as the ideology of the progressive side in the West. I believe that the only way to save liberalism and the promise of real justice it holds, is to have a direct ideological confrontation with critical theory, a proper clash of ideas and ideals.
We need to drop any pretense of 'progressive unity' because there is clearly none.
Either liberalism wins and critical theory lose, or it's the other way around. And I certainly know which way I prefer.
