My position on the 'what is a woman' question is fundamentally rooted in classical liberalism: anyone should be able to speak up on what they truly believe to be the answer to this question. Free speech and free thought are more important than anything else for me.
It is also just a matter of practical reality that the disagreement isn't going to go away anytime soon, and a pragmatic individual (like myself) would accept this reality and work within it, rather than try to change it. It's like how some people are Catholic, others are Baptists, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists or Atheists, and their disagreements won't be going away within our lifetimes. This is why I think the focus on 'what is a woman' is a pointless culture war distraction, like the religious wars in Europe used to be. I've already accepted that it isn't going to be settled within our lifetimes. Agreeing to disagree and insisting on free speech is the only way out.
