I guess the problem is that there is CRT, the theory, and there is the Republican culture war politics played around CRT. While the culture war stuff often stinks, we do really need to have a conversation about CRT itself though.

Besides, there are many 'levels' of CRT (an issue which I will be addressing in a future article). Some exploration of academic CRT can be okay, but the more extreme and politicized manifestations are clearly illiberal.
