I am always consistent on free speech. It is never right to fight 'bad ideas' with cancel culture. But one can (and I would argue, morally must) push back against what one considers bad ideas, using one's own free speech. I will be doing so, and I respect others doing so too, whatever their views.
People on all sides need to understand this: everyone comfortably nodding in agreement is not the normal state of a truly free marketplace of ideas. Vehemently disagreeing is a healthy part of the free debate process, even if at times unpleasant. We all need to welcome it.
