I am all for portraying the diversity of the trans community and the wide range of activists in the struggle for acceptance. However, it is a problem (at least in the English speaking West) that even among the trans community, some voices, some viewpoints, currently have a louder voice than others, because of their connections to forces outside the trans community. This has led to both newcomers to the community and outsiders who observe the community seeing a certain stereotype of trans people, which frustratingly does not reflect the lived experiences and views of someone like myself.

I remember that this wasn’t a problem before the ‘trans tipping point’ circa 2015 or so, when the outside world generally left the trans community alone. We had our internal arguments but people with different views were on a more level playing field. What I’m trying to do is to restore that more healthy culture of viewpoint diversity within the community.
