As I pointed out before, drag has been needlessly targeted in legislation sweeping some red states, when a general ban on sexualized performances (that did not mention drag) would be adequate in terms of protecting kids. The legislation has even led to the cancellation of some pride events in 2023, hence clearly having an impact on free speech.

Wokeness is definitely a major problem, but right-wing culture war populism is just as big a problem, and we can take a stand against both at the same time. It is tempting to believe that one side is better than the other, but there really isn't a 'good' side here.
